List of Common Shoe Repairs

Heel Repair

We do heel repairs, to both womens and mens shoes. We remove the old worn heels then grind the Heel Block so that our new heels will stick on well. If the heel Block is worn down we build it back up to square again first, then we glue a new piece of Rubber on and trim it back to the shape of the heel block on our heel trimmer. After taking any sharp burrs off we paint the Heel Block, if necessary, and give the shoes an all over polish.
While most shoes that we reheel are done with rubber, as it wears well and has great grip. You can get us to put leather heels onto mens or ladies shoes for dancing. Soling leather or softer suede can be used on heels to give the right amount of slip and grip.

Protection for Leather Soles or Delicate Soles

This is a thin (1.8mm) skin of good quality TOPY rubber that protects the half sole from wearing out and provides better grip. Once it wears out it can be easily replaced again and again if needed where as if the original sole is left to wear out it is quite a business to repair it.

Worn Front or Half Sole Replacement

If the sole wears right down or even once it wears a hole (usually under the ball of your right foot) we can remove the old one and put a new one on, it is a bigger job than a protective ½ sole but equally successful.

Leather Insole Replacement

While we do stock a range of ready made insoles in all sizes we can also cut out insoles from any colour leather, these make a great replacement for the vinyl ones that are so common and that scrunch up and make your feet go sweaty. The best colour is black as it doesn't show marks, followed by brown or natural.

Heel Liner or Back Lining Replacement

Often the inside of the back of the shoe is made of fabric or delicate leather and is prone to wearing thin. We can replace it with smooth or fluffy leather which makes your shoes comfy again and save wearing through socks and panty hose

Full Shoe or Boot Resole

There are as many and varied ways of doing a full resole as there are shoe styles. The two main ways are to either entirely remove the old sole and run a new edging around and then put a new sole on or to grind the old sole back, leaving the original edging and then gluing on to that. If you are wondering if it can be done and what it will look like bring them in to us and we will show you. We have a wide range of ready made soles in stock or we can build one up out of rubber sheeting for you.
Stitching
We have machines to stitch almost anything on a shoe or a bag. If it can’t be done on a machine we will hand stitch it for you. We have a wide range of thread colours and can recolour some threads as well.

Gluing shoes
If it has come unglued we first grind out all of the old glue then put 1 or 2 coats, depended on the product, onto each surface, these are then left to dry for 30 minutes, we then heat them up and press them together in the sole press or on a last with a shoe hammer.

Zip Replacement or Repair
We can repair or replace most zips in shoes, boots and bags. We also repair or replace zips and zip sliders in jackets and golf bags. If the zip teeth are fine then we will most likely be able to just replace the slider or runner - this is far cheaper then replacing the entire zip. We stock black, dark brown, light brown and beige zipping. We have instock 3 main zip types, coil teeth, vislon or plastic teeth and also some metal teeth. We have in stock hundreds of sliders to fit most zips. We also have slider pull tabs for when that little bit breaks off. Bring your broken zipper into us and we will help you decide whether to replace just the zip slider, zip puller, zip tab or whether to replace the entire zipper.

Elastic
We can replace the elastic in your shoes, boots and sandals. We can find something to match any colour, we stock black, brown and white and can recolour the white to almost any colour. We stock 15 different widths from 6mm to 250mm.

Velcro repair or replacement
You can have the Velcro replaced in your shoes, sandals and boots, we also replace velcro on bags and sporting equipment. We have a wide range of colours and widths.
